Implementation of the blended learning course and teaching activities in Windhoek:
Three lecturers from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Wuppertal were able to teach at NUST in May. They supported the teaching there with courses and practical exercises for traffic planning (traffic counting, questionnaire creation, interviews etc.) and extended the content of the ATM921S course - and for perspective future blended learning courses. Meanwhile, staff from the Center for Information and Media Processing of the BUW (ZIM) optimized the course configuration in the moodle learning management system and integrated accompanying videos for students and tutors. Two ZIM staff members supported the implementation of the blended learning course on site in June. They provided didactic and technical support and were active as teaching staff for the further training of tutors and lecturers.
The didactically meaningful combination of digital media and local support (e.g. Inverted Classroom, Blended Learning) offers the possibility to effectively support teaching and learning processes.
The course "Advanced Transport Modeling - ATM921S" can be conducted as planned at the beginning of the second semester in July 2018. Subsequently, the feedback collected during and at the end of the course is evaluated.
The project will be presented at the eLearning Africa Conference in September. www.elearning-africa.com
The course can be offered on an ongoing basis; also at other universities. The course implementation at BUW is also planned.
2017
Confirmation of DAAD funding. Production of video lectures and development of the blended learning course by ZIM's e-learning and media service units. The conceptual design of the course makes it possible to bring together different experts of a subject area in a joint event. The blended learning course contains interactive videos, test questions, further links and working materials for online and face-to-face courses. Tutors supervise the entire seminar and the experts can be connected via web conference. The course is also intended for later use at the BUW. The implementaion at NUST is planned for the second semester of the Master's program, which begins at the beginning of July 2018.
Two Master students from Namibia were trained as tutors in Wuppertal from the beginning of November to the end of December 2017 to support the students on site in Windhoek. They also contributed to the further development of the interactive videos and made an important contribution to the completion of the blended learning elements. The course is listed as module "ATM921S" of NUST's Master's program and is now an integral part of the NUST curriculum.

2015
Following the development of a concept to improve the support of PhD candidates, regular web conferences were established. Communication between supervisors and PhD students is an important element in the supervision of doctoral students. Through the use of digital technologies, supervisors and PhDs are now continuously connected. To achieve this, the technical requirements at NUST and BUW had to be coordinated and suitable resources built up.
The Center for Information and Media Processing (ZIM) was able to develop and establish this process within the framework of a staff exchange with the Teaching and Learning Unit (TLU) of NUST. This cooperation was mainly initiated by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Felix Huber. He is the project manager of the BUW-NUST cooperation.
2014
Signing of a cooperation agreement between the Namibian University of Science and Technology (NUST) and the University of Wuppertal (BUW). The cooperation agreement forms the basis for the development of a long-term BUW-NUST strategy.
2012
Beginning of the cooperation, first with consulting and teaching offers and later with the supervision of PhD students.
Tip
The ZIM offers lecturers in all faculties of the BUW support for the development and implementation of projects in the field of digitisation of research and teaching; also in an international context.
