Since July 30th 2012 the Debian distribution Ubuntu (12.04LTS) is in use (currently: since January 13th 2015 14.04 LTS). Prior to this a native Debian was running for about 10 years as a basis for the internet café. However we forgo the use of the desktop environments KDE and Gnome and use the in-house environment Unity.
The Unity desktop is structured relatively simple and therefore easily and intuitively operated. On the left side it contains a "quick start bar" on which you can place your own applications. If you want to start a program, which is not placed in the quick starter, you work with the DASH - the first entry in the quick start bar - simply type in a definition or search via the filters for certain applications. This file call up is also easily reachable via the keyboard: short tap on the super key (windows key).
